Here's a recipe for making delicious lasagna at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of lasagna noodles
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 pound of ground beef, ground turkey or Italian sausage
  • 2 (28 oz) cans of crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons of tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 large container of ricotta cheese (15 oz)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F. Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain the noodles and set them aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onion is soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef, turkey or Italian sausage to the skillet and cook until browned, about 10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir the ingredients together until well combined. Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, or until it has thickened slightly.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, eggs, and Parmesan cheese together.
  • To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom of a 9x13 inch baking dish. Layer the cooked lasagna noodles on top of the sauce, breaking them if necessary to fit. Spoon half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, spreading it evenly. Repeat with another layer of sauce, noodles, and ricotta mixture.
  • Top the lasagna with the mozzarella cheese. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake the lasagna for 25-30 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and continue to bake the lasagna for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Let the lasagna cool for 8-10 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley, if desired.

Enjoy your delicious and comforting lasagna! You can also add additional ingredients to customize your dish, such as spinach, mushrooms, or eggplant. Have fun and get creative with your lasagna making!
